My Lords,
We are honored to be informed by Mr. Hammond's letter of the 24th instant, stating that, with reference to your letter of the 17th instant, he has transmitted to us a letter from the Foreign Office, inclosing a despatch from the Attorney General of Hong Kong. The subject is the administration of the estates of persons dying in the Colony.
The despatch also contains observations with regard to the custody, in transit, of foreigners accused or convicted of crimes who had been deported from Hong Kong to some other place.
That the Foreign Office had obtained from the Chief Justice of Hong Kong a report on the despatch (enclosed), and that he (Mr. Hammond) was requested to take the paper into consideration.
